I realized why I could be John and Bobby could be Bobby and even Scott could just be Scott, and hell, on some level, Storm could still be Ororo – why we had names, but Marie was just Rogue. For the first time I had an insight into why Logan could never be anything but Wolverine, why Erik would always be Magneto.
They all knew something I hadn’t, until then.
You can never go back. Never. All of my bridges were burning behind me.
